A 2-Year Orthodontic Program
This program consists of six courses (three per year) at Dr. Richard McLaughlin's office in San Diego, California. Courses will extend for three or four days and will consist of a case presentation and discussion segment, and a practical segment.

The case presentation and discussion segment of each course will center around the following topics:
The practical segment of the course provides "hands on" instruction in the following areas:
- Diagnosis and treatment planning using the Dolphin Arnett-McLaughlin diagnostic module
- Detailed indirect bonding procedures on participant's cases
- Placement of lacebacks, initial archwires, rectangular steel archwires, passive wire tiebacks and active tiebacks on the MBT™ System typodont
- Information on the use of the SmartClipT Self-Ligating Bracket
- Use of the Hycon device for difficult space closure cases
- Wire bending techniques, including torquing procedures, bite opening curves, and individual archwire bends
- Mounting cases on the SAM III articulator
- Practice management concepts, including office structure, initial exams and consultations, scheduling, and accounts payable and receivable
- Review of miscellaneous clinical products (in addition to brackets and archwires)
- Discussion of current technologies by 3M Unitek R & D specialists
- Demonstration of general lab procedures (fixed and removable retainers, etc.), as well as twin block appliances and the ForsusT Appliance. The placement and adjustment of these appliances will also be demonstrated.
- Demonstration of the construction, placement and adjustment of TMJ splints
- Detailed information on proper inter-proximal reduction techniques
Additional 2-Year Course Information
3M Unitek will provide each participant with a select number of MBT™ System brackets to begin treating cases during the two years of the course. Dolphin Imaging will provide each participant with a special version of their imaging program, which will include the Dolphin Arnett-McLaughlin Analysis. Each participant must bring a laptop computer with proper specifications to accept the Dolphin software. This software will be installed at the first course.
Each participant will be asked to purchase the Sam III Articulator from Great Lakes at a special course rate. This articulator will be used at the second course.
PLEASE NOTE: This two year program is intended for orthodontists who are interested in detailed information on the MBT™ Philosophy of Orthodontic Treatment, and who intend to implement this Philosophy in their orthodontic practices.
